How to send documents to patients

If you ever need to send a document to a patient (e.g. information on stimulants, a discharge letter, etc.), there are two ways to do so:

Email patient using a HIPAA-Compliant email

If using a HIPAA-compliant email, you can find the patient’s email in their Demographics.

  1. Search for the patient by last name, first name
  2. Click the gray person icon in the top left of their chart
  3. The Demographics tab will pop up listing all of the patient's information, including their email
  4. Copy and paste this into your HIPAA-Compliant email of choice

Upload to their Chart and message via AMD messaging

  1.  Navigate to the patient's chart.
  2. Find the Documents section, click the plus sign, and choose Upload Document. For this example, we will use the Discharge Letter. Click to read the help center article on Rula's Discharge of Care Protocol.
