Accessing Rula's mandatory HIPAA training

Rula treats patient privacy at the highest level of integrity and holds all therapists to the highest quality standards. To ensure we're living up to this promise, we require all providers to complete mandatory HIPAA training provided by Rula, both at the time of onboarding and again annually.

See the article Ensuring you are HIPAA compliant to learn more about HIPAA compliance at Rula.

Types of HIPAA Training at Rula

There are two HIPAA training courses provided by Rula, one you will take during onboarding and the other each year thereafter.

  1. Initial HIPAA Compliance Training: This is part of your onboarding course when you first join rula, also known as Rula 101. You will complete this course once.
  2. HIPAA Refresher Training Course: This is a separate course that you must take each year to remain compliant. You will receive an email with a link to take this course approximately one year after you last completed either the initial HIPAA training or the refresher training course.

Accessing Initial HIPAA Training during onboarding

Your will first complete HIPAA training as part of your onboarding course, known as Rula 101, which you must complete before seeing your first client at Rula.

Rula 101 is made of separate modules, and HIPAA training is presented in its own module. There are two parts to the module:

  1. HIPAA Part 1: This module includes a general HIPAA privacy and security overview. It defines Protected Health Information (PHI) and contains ample real-world examples.
  2. HIPAA Part 2: This module discusses some of the details regarding putting the law into everyday practice.
