Your provider profile is often a patient's first look into your practice—it’s where they begin to understand what working with you might feel like. Patients value profiles that clearly reflect a provider’s approach and specialty areas, giving them confidence they’re choosing the right fit.
While we can't guarantee patients based solely on your profile, optimizing your profile can improve alignment and help grow your practice. This guide walks you through:

Update your expertise
These details should showcase your expertise to appeal to the right patients seeking your specific expertise and approach.
- From the Rula provider portal, select Profile from the left menu.
- Click the Expertise tab.
- Here, you can edit Specialties and Populations. You can also update your top selections, which makes it easier for you to connect with patients who are the best fit for your practice.
- Click Edit next to the information you’d like to edit.
- From the dropdown, select the options that fit you as a provider.
- To remove a specific specialty, modality, population, or style from your profile, click the X next to it.
- Once updated, click Save.
- You can click Cancel to back out.
- You’re all set—you can preview your patient-facing profile if you’d like!
Selecting your top specialties and populations helps attract patients who are the best fit for your practice. You can include all areas of expertise—this just highlights the ones that best represent your practice.

Update your demographics
This information is shared with patients when finding providers they resonate with. Be thorough and specific here for improved matches.
- From the Rula provider portal, select Profile from the left menu.
- Click the Demographics tab.
- Here, you can edit Gender, Preferred name, Pronouns, Ethnicity, Languages, and Faith/Religion.
- Click Edit next to the information you’d like to edit.
- From the dropdown, select the options that fit you as a provider.
- To remove a selection from your profile, click the X next to it.
- Once updated, click Save.
- You can click Cancel to back out.
- You’re all set—you can preview your patient-facing profile if you’d like!
Update your bio and headshot
You can't update your own bio and headshot. If you would like to request any changes, please fill out this form. You can also find this form in your provider portal under the Bio tab by clicking the Update bio button on the right side of the page.

Preview your patient-facing profile
Once you have a contract with Rula and an official start date, your patient-facing profile will be live and viewable.
Here’s how to see exactly what your profile looks like to prospective patients:
- From the Rula provider portal, select Profile from the left menu.
- Click the Preview your profile button at the top right of the page.
- This will launch a preview window that displays your profile as patients see it when searching for providers.
