Adding medications for a patient to DrFirst

In this article, we will cover how to add medications to DrFirst for a patient. We will also cover how to view a patient's medication history and inactive medications.

Guided Steps

  1. Log in to the Rula provider portal
  2. Navigate to the Clients tab and select the client you'd like to add a medication for
  3. Click Manage medication in the top right corner to open DrFirst for this patient

    1. Note that you can only manage medication for this selected patient. If you'd like to go to another patient's information page in DrFirst, you will need to navigate back to that client's chart in the portal and launch DrFirst again.
  4. Now that DrFirst is open in a new tab, scroll down to the Medication section.
  5. Click Add medication
  6. Search for the medication and select the one you'd like to add.
  7. Select the desired strength from the list given
  8. A new pop-up will appear where you can add additional information, such as refills, start date, stop date, internal comments, and more. These fields are not required, so if you'd like to quickly add this medication for the patient, you do not need to complete the additional information.
    • Note that if you need a collaborating MD to prescribe medications, you should add the collaborating physician's information to the "additional notes to pharmacist" section.
  9. Click Add

Please note that you will be required to add the patient's diagnosis and any allergy information the first time you access a new patient chart in DrFirst before you can start prescribing medications.
